Since our founding, that single office space has expanded into six offices, a conference room, and a fully-equipped kitchen to serve our classes of 20+ students offered three times a year. We continue to provide workforce development training and job placement assistance in the food service industry for adults who face barriers to long-term successful employment. The culinary program at Johnson & Wales University emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing students to gain practical experience in professional kitchens. The curriculum also includes courses on food safety, nutrition, menu planning, and culinary management.

Many of their students have jobs outside of baking, which serves as their creative outlet. Some people want to change occupations, polish their current abilities, or learn something new. The institution also provides a program for potential restaurant entrepreneurs if you’ve always desired to start your own business. Each spring, JWU Charlotte students gain industry experience at the world-renowned Augusta National Masters Tournament.

Each student group’s demands are considered while creating the standard classes. CCSC aids underemployed adults in gaining and maintaining work in the food service industry, especially for those in disadvantaged communities.
